Job Description
THIS IS PART TIME AND FULLY REMOTE. 8 hours guaranteed.
MUST SPEAK Somali.
SUMMARY: Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak the same language by converting one language to another (spoken/written). Interpreting services include but are not limited to Employment, Training & Orientation, Meetings, Human Resources, Health Services and other operational activities as assigned. This position is held to a strict code of confidentiality. Example projects include, written translation, video and phone interpretation, voice recording, translation review and editing.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school degree or equivalent is preferred. Certification in interpreting/translation preferred.
Experience: Must be able to pass our interpreter assessment with an average total score of 90% or higher. One year of interpreter experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Communication Skills: Must have strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the target language Working knowledge of interpreting/translating best practices preferred, including prioritizing confidentiality at all times
Special Skills:
- Must be able to work independently, while simultaneously working as part of a team collaboratively and learning new skills
- Must be able to demonstrate strong organizational skills, prioritize deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be proactive and willing to ask for help to understand projects fully and perform at one’s highest level Dependable internet connection required
- Basic Computer and Typing Skills Required
- Experience using Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms (e.g. Zoom, TEAMS, etc.) preferred
Travel: Minimal (1-3 times annually, all expenses paid)
Work Shift: Part-time Remote Weekdays only
